Runaway Truck Ramp

Runaway truck ramps, aka arrester beds, is where brakeless trucks can escape to avoid an inevitable accident. What usually happens is a driver hits the brakes too often on a steep incline that they go out by the time they head downhill. The ramp is usually sandy soft gravel on a very steep incline used to stop an eighteen wheeler in its tracks. One reason to avoid using an escape ramp is the grooming fee for use as it needs to be re-groomed afterwards. Luckily we were never in such a situation that called for our using one.
