The Role of Women in Photography: Are We There Yet? Is the title of this panel discussion that explores the ways in which women’s roles in photography, since its inception in the early 19th century, have changed, been stymied, or are approaching egalitarianism in an age where “facebook” can topple a government, cell phones double as cameras, image creation is ubiquitous, and anyone with a computer and a phone line can post his or her personal global gallery.
Moderated by Elisabeth Biondi, independent curator and former long-time Visuals Editor at The New Yorker, distinguished panelists include Vince Aletti, photography critic for The New Yorker and columnist for Photograph; Martine Fougeron, fine art, editorial and portrait photographer; Lisa Kereszi, fine art photographer and lecturer at the Yale School of Art; Lyle Rexer, curator, writer and lecturer in photography and Sarah Silver, fashion photographer.
